Your mobile phone number; your name (if provided); the donation amount and date; payment card or bank information, which is collected and processed directly by our third-party payment processor and text-to-give provider (see Section 4) — we do not store your full card or bank account number on our own systems; and the content of any text messages you send to our giving number, such as keyword replies (e.g., GIVE, STOP, HELP).
2. Text Messaging Consent and Disclosures
By texting a donation amount or keyword to our giving number, you consent to receive text messages from True Spirit of Christ Church related to your donation, including confirmations and receipts.
Message frequency varies depending on your giving activity. Message and data rates may apply, as charged by your mobile carrier. Consent to receive text messages is not a condition of making a donation by any other method (online, in person, or by mail).
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to process and record your donation; send you a confirmation or receipt for tax purposes; respond to your messages, including HELP and STOP requests; maintain accurate giving records for the Church's financial administration; and comply with applicable law, including tax and financial recordkeeping requirements.
We do not use your giving information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.
4. How We Share Your Information
We share information only as necessary to operate the text-to-give service:
With our text-to-give platform provider and payment processor, who handle message delivery and payment transactions on our behalf; with your mobile carrier, which delivers text messages between you and our giving number; and as required by law, such as in response to a subpoena, audit, or legal request.
No personal information will be shared with third parties/affiliates for marketing/promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
5. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, and we rely on payment processors that maintain PCI-DSS compliance for handling payment card data. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
6. Data Retention
We retain donation records for as long as needed to fulfill tax reporting and financial recordkeeping obligations, and in accordance with our record-retention practices and applicable law. Text message opt-out requests are retained to ensure we honor your preference not to be contacted again.
7. Opting Out of Text Messages
You may opt out of text-to-give messages at any time by texting STOP to our giving number. You will receive one final confirmation message that you have been unsubscribed, and no further messages will be sent unless you opt back in. For help, text HELP to our giving number, or contact us using the information in Section 10.
Opting out of text messages does not affect the processing of donations already made, and you may continue to give through other methods.
8. Children's Privacy
Our text-to-give service is intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old and legally able to make financial donations. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this service.
9. Your Choices and Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal information we hold about you related to your giving history by contacting us using the information below. We will respond to reasonable requests consistent with our record keeping obligations.
